Communism was severe. The vacuum left by Communism’s demise has often been filled with violent crime, breakdown in family structures, sexual immorality, and drug and alcohol abuse. In addition, there are still huge affects from Chernobyl. The consequent weakening of immune systems, combined with a rapidly spreading HIV/Aids virus are only adding to the problems of a shrinking population. Despite all of the problems Ukraine has, they are a wonderful people. They are warm, kind and hospitable, and they place a high value on relationships. The problem is, only 2.7% of them are experiencing the most important relationship of all, one with Jesus Christ.
