When people talk about their home church there is often only one church that they are referencing. In our case, our family has been blessed by getting to know two churches intimately; Bettendorf Christian Church and Mt. Pulaski First Christian Church.
As some of you may know Jenny and I were born and raised in Davenport and Bettendorf Iowa. The Quad Cities, as it's known is also were Jenny and I started our marriage and our walk with Christ together. Certainly when we started attending Bettendorf Christian we were but neophytes to Christianity and mature faith. But as we grew in relationship to our church family we also grew closer in relationship with Christ. Bettendorf Christian’s ministers; especially Karl Roberts, Alex Cobb, Shane Baker, Moose Robinson, and Ted Brown; inspired us to continually take our love for God and love for others to the next level, saying that stagnation is never an option. But a church family is so much more than a handful of professional staff, it is a family that raises us from spiritual babies in this faith to maturity. Not that we have obtained perfection in our goal, but our journey has been full of spiritual cheerleaders from Bettendorf Christian. While so many have been impactful in our growth, some people have really stood out to us as Christian mentors. Included in this list would be Ted and Karina Johnson, Tom and Linda Wicks, John and Clare Ullrich, Mike and Amy Gonzales, Keith Woods, Jeff and Tracy Thiele, Wade and Krista Baffa, Matt and Bekah Beachy, and so many more. I could go on and on about our gratitude to this church for the solid teaching they instilled in us but this short web site is not enough... That being said, if you would like to learn more about the teaching at Bettendorf Christian please visit their site here. www.bettendorfchristian.org
Mt. Pulaski First Christian Church (MPCC) could be said to be our home away from home. Through training at Lincoln Christian College and our time
at MPCC we have grown so much. The phrase "church family" has taken on a whole new meaning at Mt. Pulaski. We have had the opportunity to serve in a multitude of different areas at MPCC; from Deacon of Missions to worship ministry, to preaching, men’s ministry and working in the nursery. Our learning experience could not be complete without the hands on learning that we received from MPCC. Learning has not been the only way we have been blessed by our church family. The relationships we have made have been irreplaceable. Both Jenny and I have had a lot of personal spiritual growth through these warm relationships. Jenny and I have been greatly blessed with many of the conversations with Jeremy (JT) and Andrea Thomason, Rob and Jill Siebert, Hans & Stacy Weber, Les Evans, Jason & Kristen Lieving, Scott & Gena Ruhl, Tracy & Amy Dyer, Mike & Julie Nichols, Todd & Krystal Diebert and many more. We thank God for both of our church families and look forward to the day when we will all be able to celebrate together in the new heaven and new earth.
